Gator Gums
"They make your vise nice"

Please read the Shipping Terms & Information page regarding shipping charges before ordering.

Gator Gums are designed to increase the usability and value of a vise by increasing its versatility.

Gator Gums have a clear advantage over other vise jaw covers in performance and price.  Some vise jaw covers are made of soft metals such as aluminum or copper, some are wood, plastic and rubberized materials and range in price from $10 to $65 per pair.  The metal vise jaw covers are only useful for materials that are harder than aluminum or copper, wood will splinter, plastic deforms and cracks, and rubber breaks and crumbles under the pressures of a vise.

Gator Gums are made of leather.  Leather is softer than most other material and is very tough and resilient under the extreme pressures of a vise.  Leather has the ability to conform to the shape, contour, profile, and surface texture of virtually any work piece or tool being held in a vise.  Gator Gums will not damage delicate or polished or easily scratched surfaces as they cushion and protect a work piece or tool against damage that would be caused by the hardened steel jaws of a vise.   Gator Gums also conform the knurling of the vise jaws thus creating a much-improved grip between the vise and a work piece or tool.

Gator Gums make pen assembly a breeze using a bench vise.  The leather protects the finish of the pen parts and also protects the threaded ends as the pen components are gently seated prior to final assembly.  Gator Gums hold an item securely for delicate operations such as finishing and repair work.

Gator Gums are meant for light to medium to semi-heavy duty vise use.  Gator Gums improve a vises ability to hold virtually any item while causing no to very little damage to a work piece or the vise itself.

Gator Gums are easy to install and replace when required.  If you do not use any kind of oil or spray lubricant such as WD-40 the Gator Gums with the adhesive backing work very well.  Just remove the protective backing, stick one Gator Gums Vise Jaw Cover on each jaw, and clamp the vise to set them on and that is it.  If you are going to use a lubricant the magnetic backed Gator Gums are recommended.

Instructions for installation

NON MAGNETIC (adhesive backed)

Select the correct size GATOR GUMS for your vise (they come in sizes 4”, 4 ½” 5”, 5 ½”,  6” sizes).  Make sure that vise jaws are free of any grease or dirt. Remove the protective backing from GATOR GUMS vise jaw covers and apply one vise jaw cover to each jaw of your vise. Close the jaws of the vise tight momentarily to set the GATOR GUMS to the knurling of the vise jaws.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
Jesus Christ and the American G.I.
One died for your soul and the other for your freedom.

What is a Veteran?   A "Veteran" -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of up to and including his or her life.
